CATALOGUE SUBSYSTEM

Showcasing "new" and "featured" items as well as offering consumers an opportunity to find out about your value added services is accomplished through the use of the "Catalogue" subsystem.

Once marketing has designed how and what they wish to sell this section is used to present these products to your potential customers. The complete listing of your entire product line can be displayed. The simplistic interface to product grouping and display order on the final site is easy to use and can be managed by the most programming iliterate of your staff. Further to this only the "active" catalogue can be viewed or searched by visitors, this means that your staff can preplan and pre-build new catalogues before putting them live. Is Christmas coming?

The "Catalogue Subsystem" allows the web master to create a product category hierarchy independent of the "Inventory Subsystem" which is a database of items, kits and packages as described above. This simple architecture allows the web master the freedom to sort product by individual categories allowing inventory to be displayed in various branches of the hierarchy.

Catalogues Features

  1. Multiple catalogues can exist at the same time. Catalogues can be built without being put "live", this additional feature allows the web master to reorganize the sites inventory display without interrupting sales.
  2. Catalogues can be made the "Active catalogue" and the entire site will now display the inventory structure as newly released (published) catalogue.
  3. Catalogues are defined by the "Client managed" category builder. Subcategories and names of these categories are in the control of the client.
  4. Products can be defined in the database but not made available to the web site for preplanning purposes.
  5. The live catalogue has a built-in search available to the web site for quick jumping to items in the catalogue. Parameters for the site search are set up so that the user can find links to articles, items and other materials available on the site. Once the client clicks on any one of the links the system will take the user to that particular area of the site.
  6. Web interface supports a way leading category "Quick link" to support fast jumping to higher level sections of the catalogue.
  7. Items can be inserted in multiple categories without duplication of the item record in the Product database.
E.g., An new item for ITEM4 by can be placed in the EAS category, the New Products catalogue, the Feature Items category. (See diagram below for a description of this mapping).

    Inventory subsystem

    ? Items
    ? Packages
    ? Kits

Add, edit, delete inventory. Define attributes and bundle kits. Select product for use in packages. Kits and product are assigned there own SKU's and are built based on the items currently available in the systems inventory.

A kit is a predefined selection of item that cannot be altered by the customer.

A package is a predefined selection of items the client chooses based on options also previously defined.

    Catalogue subsystem

Add, edit and delete the categories that represent the organizational structure of the inventory system.

e.g. Feature Items, New Items, EAS Products, IDC Products, etc.

The web master simply adds items, kits and packages from the existing inventory into each of the defined categories (duplication across categories is allowed). These items will them be displayed in the categories selected by the customer on the site.

  8. Individually branded category pages
Each category supports the ability to use "Branded category images" . Once this look and feel is designed your visitors can be presented with a branded category page giving them a familar interface to the brands they have grown loyal to.
